Can the sari survive? Indian culture’s battle against the West

In India today, a battle is brewing. The western lifestyle and rapid globalisation of India versus traditions so seeped into Indian’s bones they form the very foundations of life here. Every day, a writhing, rolling rainbow mass of colourful saris wields its way through the streets, collecting temples, food and music drenching this country with its thousands of years of traditions. Yet, the influence of the west and the enormous Indian diaspora may be dulling the colours of this vibrant culture.

Three wonderful Gen Y women all with Indian roots whether it be by birth, heritage or history share their stories and thoughts on the staying power of Indian traditions across the world.
