India’s expanding newspapers defy trend

While many of the Western world’s newspapers are in terminal decline, India’s print media industry is exploding. Both English and vernacular papers are increasing in numbers and size, due to the increasing rate of literacy. This market still has an exponential capacity to grow, with around 28% of their population still waiting to become literate.

This radio documentary explores how it’s possible for a dying medium to expand, how print can compete with the digital revolution and the effect it’s had on the Indian media landscape.
